A (personal) dream cast of a film/televised version of the wonderful book "Outlander" by Diana Gabaldon. No copyright infringement intended, as it is just a bit of fun.

(Please note that this is not the original music, but an AudioSwapped version. Emails from youtube saying that my video had some "content that [was] owned or licensed" scared me into changing it.)

  • You know who should play Jamie? The guy that played Thor. That one dude he listed doesn't have red hair! The Thor dude dyes his hair sometimes for movie roles. He'd be perfect!

  • @kansasgirlygirl I was seriously just thinking that the other day. Or, has anyone seen the Borgias or Pillars of the Earth miniseries? There's a guy in those programs called David Oakes who I thought could be a very close Jamie.

  • I of course still love Chris Hemsworth as Jamie - he has the height, presence, charisma and grace - and I see Emily Blunt as Claire - great job on the video! (Jason Isaacs as Jack Randall/Frank - Frank is 10 years older than Claire.

  • @cullencarolina Your suggestion about Hemsworth is great - I saw star trek, but I didn't know his name. Plus his eyes are a really pretty blue. Just wondering - where in the books does Diana Gabaldon discuss Frank's age. I completely believe you when you say that he's 10 years older, but I looked in the books and in her Outlandish Companion (though, admittedly, not very thoroughly) and I couldn't find a passage about Frank's age.

  • as much as i love this series of DG, i don't see Ioann as Frank/Jack Randall. the first time i read Outlander, only one person came to my mind for that role and that's Jason Isaacs. as for the role of Jamie, Andy Whitfield could pass for a Jamie and as much as i love Gerald and see him as MY Jamie, he could also pass as the role of Dougal. I can't say i agree for Rebecca Hall to be Claire. i could see Ioan playing Jamie's brother in law, Ian though. :)

  • @ilovescottfoley The first time I read the books, Jason Isaacs was my Frank/Jack too. That's probably because at that time, my favorite movie was the Patriot, and he just matched the descriptions perfectly. The problem is I imagine Frank, and Jack Randall, for that matter, as a man in his late twenties to early thirties, and as much as I would like Isaacs to play that part, I think it would be difficult for him to play someone that age convincingly (in my mind). But thanks for the feedback! :)

  • Great job...all except Ioann Gruffold as Jack Randall....he is too sweet looking.....Frank yes, Jack no.....and absolutely Jason Isaacs as Frank.....they could pass for relatives. Still not sure about jamie and Claire.....I don't think anyone will ever truly represent them.

  • Nicely done! Now if only, right? :)

  • Gerard Butler as Dougal and Ralph Fiennes as Colum are both two suggestions I'd never thought of, but I love them both!

  • Jason Isaacs or Jack Davenport for Frank Randall. I'm sure I read in the books somewhere that he is a bit older than Claire. Jamie is the hardest to cast because we all have our own idea of what he looks like. (Anyway, is there really a man out there like him?) Murtagh and Ned Gowan should be played by some of those great character actors. Don't do the American everybody's beautiful thing! Liam and Gerard good picks for Colum and Dougald.

  • I have to agree with many of these comments, Gerard Butler does not have the fine features of Jamie and is now too old to play a 23yr old realistically. Dougal is a more apt part.

I think Andy Whitfield has the looks and body and is an extremely physical actor as shown in Spartacus. I wonder how a brit born australian would manage the highland accent tho? I'd like to see him try!

  • I love Andy Whitfield as Jaime, cat eyed for sure.
