We took a five man climbing team to Mt. Rainier (14400 ft) in June of 2009. The first day of climbing was spent ascending in whiteout conditions. We had to climb above 8500 feet to get out of the clouds. We could hear avalanches rumbling in the distance that sounded like thunder while we were in the whiteout. This was unnerving. The jet stream shifted on the next day and brought 60 mile and hour winds for the next three days. I was so sunburned on my face from the first day that I would stand out in the cold winds till my face was numb to get some relief. Hope to go back again some day. Whoo Hooh!!
