See Raw Food Eater Matt Monarch of http://www.mattmonarch.blogspot.com/, talk about the Moving Simply Raw, which is about healing from Diabetes and getting off of your insulin.
I am slowly curing my diabetes through a raw food diet. Yes I do add fish and chicken to it but my body doesnt do well without it. However I can't eat the fruits and such without paying the price. Soooo...green leafy vegetable...bring it on! low glycemic fruits..blueberries, blackberries, and suck toss thoe in to! So far Blod levels went down from medicated 480's to now non medicated 130-150.Find what works and grab it by the hors and go for the ride!
@disndat11 Nope, none of that good stuff you mentioned sadly. Your lucky to just be 130, as the new BS guidelines say 120, but the old one was 140 so your fine right now. In your case what I would do is just get the supplements I mentioned and take them daily, that should be enough to keep you normal hopefully. Also exercise by walking 30 to 60 minutes a day to burn up the glucose. I get my supplements cheap from SwansonvitaminsDOTcom and iherbDOTcom. Go to MendosaDOTcom for info too. =)
Typo correction: Going on a low/no carb diet keeps me from having to take meds/insulin..but make sure you can lower your blood sugar enough this way..some people can't with just diet alone..so go get a blood glucose monitor and check your blood sugar often to make sure you can do it with just diet. Also take herbs to help you lower your blood sugar such as Cinnamon, Gymnema Sylvestre, Fenugreek, Alpha Lipoic Acid, Vit. D, Magnesium, Cedar Berries & Omega 3 fish oil and multivitamin.
Carbs are anything that is not animal meat -flour, grains, sugar, veggies, fruit, bread, potatos, rice, etc. I love bread too, but it will kill you if you have Diabetes type 2 because it turns into sugar in your blood. If you don't want to take meds/insulin the only way is by going on a no-carb or super low car diet. I'm not going to lie, it isn't fun just eating protein all the time, but it keeps me having to take meds/insulin which I have read too many bad things about.
this demonstrates no understanding of what causes Type I or Type II diabetes. but please learn to make the difference between the two types, as Type I is not caused by lifestyle choice.
You can achieve the same results doing a low carb Atkins style diet. Meat is not the enemy here for Diabetics, it is carbs. No matter what kind of "healthy" carb I ate, whether complex carbs, whole grains, etc., they all raised my blood sugar. It was only when I eliminated almost all carbs that my blood sugar finally went down without any medication. Now I eat less than 20 carbs a day, mostly from Asparagus, brocolli, & lettuce. Both low carb & raw diets are a bitch to follow but they beat meds.

That really blows. My blood Sugar level is 130, so I'm borderline and need to really watch it. But i can't imagine what else is there to eat

@Nightbird
So carbs are all breads, rice, potatoes, right?
I can cut meat out with no problem, but bread is very difficult to cut out for me.
