Hi Guys!
Here a short clip of me playing around with a Flyback Transformer to power up a CFL lamp using the high voltage @ high frecuency it provides =)
That noisy fan on the background keeps the transistor from overheating.

Driver Specs:
Resistors: 270Ω 5W + 180Ω 5W
Transistor: 2N3055
PSU: 16V

  • Another thing to try is youtube user "jonnydarvo" 's low voltage flyback driver. It uses two 1k pots instead of the resistors and you can run it on a single AA battery and light up a CLF quite brightly whilst drawing low amounts of current.
