Quincy Jones - Velas (1981)

A sweet mellow song off Quincy Jones' great album The Dude. A song to lend an ear to while chillin'. Nice harmonica solo.

I was just a 20yr. old kid when this song came out. I was really into funk, from Rick James to Parliment/Funkedelic,. Then on a cold, winter Chicago night in Jan. 1982, I made love to the most beautiful 32yr. old woman I had ever seen to this song. Needless to say, I've been a smooth jazz lover every since. Thanx for posting this song man, it brings back some wonderful memories.

There's just not words enough in the dictionary to describe just how good this is. That Fender Rhodes sounds unbelievable as does, of course, the harmonica and, oh, everything else on this jam. Phenomenal.

Yes it is! It's the Belgian harmonica-player Toots Thielemans. He's over 80 years old now. He's on the Wiz as well and he's a very close friend to Quincy Jones.
