The most perfect gig ever ended with an unplanned second encore. Whereas what most bands call unplugged is infact what The Civil Wars normally do, their version of "Dance me to the End of Love" was literally unplugged, relying on the beautiful, echoing acoustics of London's Union Chapel. You can even hear the shutter clicks of people's cameras!

At the end John Paul passes something to someone on the front row. I am reliably informed that Adele (who they had been supporting previously) was handed his guitar pick. :)

  • LOVE. thanks for posting these - I was hoping someone would!

  • @twistingecho - You're welcome. Thought I had a few more, but my son does not have the upper body strength to keep a camera still for 3 min apparently.

  • Ya. . . do that hand thing!

  • Love these two! Thanks for sharing! :)

  • Last tune for the evening... but far from the least!!!

    I fell in love

  • she gives me the chills :D

  • She has incredible vocal control.

  • @DrRhythm1967 - You are, of course, right; my mind must have gotten muddled in the post-gig euphoria!

  • This was the second song of the first encore. (The first song being Billie Jean). The unscheduled second encore was Between the Bars. I guess every single person there was wishing JPW wasn't joking when he said 'we've run out of things to play. We could just start over...' Truly truly magical evening.

And they just knocked it out of the park on Later... Live tonight too! Definitely an 'I was there' moment.

  • I was wondering if Adele was there but I didn't see her. Thanks for the insight - and the video!

Although, I think this may have been the first encore because we all stayed standing for the second one and the video shows people standing up at the end.
