This song is such a beautiful, hidden jem that deserves more recogniton. I have loved it since I first saw Longtime Companion back in 1990 when it cam out . Such a poweful message to and for anyone who has lost somebody. We have such a long way to go in this fight. Thank you for such a beautiful cover of such a fantastic and meaningful song.

@kissfox5 I cant begin to thank you enough. Your kind, heartfelt comment was so wonderful I really dont know what to say. You are a shinning example how many good hearted, sweet people still exist, and make comments on Youtube...which has been somewhat over-run by haters and mean spirited people lately. Thanks for reminding me there are still plenty of us good spirited, good-hearted people around to wish well to those who need it..I wont forget your kindness..thanks again..friend.

@kuffpah1 when I mentioned re-wound the tape and watched it all over, I mean....the WHOLE movie. I ran sound through my stereo so I could record the song on cassette and I listened to it non-stop for several days. This song helps me cope with loss. I love it.

@kuffpah1 Don't give a second thought to what people may think when you express your emotions. We all function our own ways. If you didn't care, you wouldn't have been overwhelmed with emotion. The others are the questionable ones. When I watched this (rental/VHS, in 1991), this song moved me to tears enough that I rewound the tape and watched it all over. Humans need songs to help us deal with grief and cause us to cry when we need to shatter. This song and cover is beyond amazing!

@elvampiro89 I'm so sorry to hear about your mother. I'm just reading your comment and my heart goes to God on you and your family's behalf. I feel so bad for you and I want you to know I care and am here for you. I believe in God and prayer, as He wants us to pray for the suffering. I hope you all are better stabilized now. Love and blessings, Randy

A great job covering a great song. I've loved this song since first hearing it in 1991 in "Longtime Companion." I re-wound the VHS and watched the movie all over again. I just had to know the guys were alright in a way that this song could convince me of. The subject matter of the movie is dark, but the song shines a bright light on hope that prevails. I love your cover of this song. You did it great justice. Thanks for posting it.

I still love this song. I must listen to it every once in a while. It makes me cry and I always feel better afterwards. Thank-you for having it on YouTube.

@mcclainx First, thank you - this is an amazing cover - like many others it got me crying away...Also not sure if you noticed, but Zane Campbell called your rendition excellent in an early comment here. High praise. :-)

There aren't words to express what this did to me. All I can say is thank you.

Awesome job
Not a joke: Today (Christmas) was a toss up between this cover and Bowie's Rock and Roll Sucide. Even with the vodka, the beuty of your cover kept me from popping that last morphone. Take it as you will. Your music gives life, not jsut entertainment.

Friend, there is always hope. Perhaps only a sliver, at times. And I'm certainly glad I could provide that sliver today. But man, never stop looking. It can be a life of relentless thorns sometimes. Tireless and exhausting. There's one phrase that has been a mantra on the darkest days, the hopeless days: "If you're going through hell....keep going." Keep going, man. You WILL get through eventually. Happy Holidays, and I'm glad I could provide some relief.

I take my medicine, listen to this song and weep for all those I have lost and those still left to lose. A beautiful cover. Well done.

Thanks, Brett. I really appreciate it. Yeah, I was amazed when I couldn't find a copy of anyone doing this.
