Engelbert Humperdinck singing "Only A Lonely Child" from his "Step Into My Life" album, originally released 1989.
This song and many of the others on the same album were highly popular in Germany and other European countries at that time.
Stay tuned for more!
This was recorded in Hamburg at Engelberts studio. The band playing the bagpipes was the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards. It was real bagpipes and not a keyboard. A music video was also made. I know because I was there! I only found this as my father lost his copy and I have to try to make him a new one!

Which version was there first? Engelbert's or Bonnie Tyler's?

Thanks, what a beautifull and sad song. It drowns you in the sentimental journey of love and hurt game which goes side by side. Engelbert did a wonderfull job singing this song what a gifted voice.

It’s true. This song makes you wanna cry. But not sung by Engelbert. Bonnie Tyler is even more sentimental. Yes, the same song (I’m only a lonely child, from the album Angel Heart - 1992 ) with slightly different lyrics sung by her should also be posted.
