Gareth Porter has a detailed article on AfterDowningStreet about the Kyl-Lieberman Amendment. Check it out:

Check out PeaceElf too. He's a fellow supporter of this movement for rights and representation:

Our situation with Iran is mirroring our lead up to war with Iraq, and the seriousness of this situation is not being recognized. A great degree of passivity and powerlessness is prevailing amongst the American people. What we need to do is voice our support for the small minority who ARE doing something. We can't let Congress get away with this.

The US is violating the United Nations charter which outlaws the threat of force in international affairs, and the top 3 candidates of the Democratic Party can't even promise that we'll be out of Iraq by 2013. This is not the opposition party.

Supporting Kucinich is supporting a movement against the illegal occupation of Iraq and an illegal war on Iran, the acceptance of marriage equality, universal not-for-profit healthcare, the protection of the environment, cancelling the WTO and NAFTA, supporting worker and immigrant rights, free college education, and finally standing up against global nuclear holocaust in favor of nuclear non-proliferation.

It's a fallacious argument to state that Hillary is the lesser of two evils. Despite what she might want you to think, Hillary is not running against Bush. Her only real competition at this point is the other Democratic candidates.

  • Right, if Americans want so much a real 'liberal' how come they voted for Bush again, last time?

  • @happyprometheus

    Um, they didn't.

  • You mean the election was fabricated? Does it matter, it was very close run anyway, even though it should not have been.

    Fool me once, your fault.

    Fool me twice....

  • @happyprometheus

You're talking as though either Kerry or Gore were liberals. The simple answer to the question of why people didn't vote for a liberal is because there wasn't one to vote for.

  • We live in a culture of complacency, and that has nothing to do with any labels such as 'liberal', 'democrat' or 'republican'. These labels are only diversions. Human selfishness has to be challenged on ethical and spiritual ground. I don't believe in 'liberals', I believe in sanity and love for other human beings.

  • @happyprometheus

Okay, whatever. Why would you initially ask me why America didn't vote for a "real liberal" if you don't "believe in liberals"? You also just stated that labels are diversions, but have nothing to do with complacency. Do you have a point, or do you just like arguing?

  • This is worse than "Groundhog Day". This is "Night of the Living Dead"--where there's nothing but brainless zombie walking around, trying to make you become a brainless zombie too.

There's nowhere to run, nowhere to hide.

  • The Middle East situation shall become worse until USA commences to honor its Creed and liberate Palestine from Israeli occupation and equally liberates israel from zionist regime that perpetrates Crimes Against Humanity. The pretense that Israeli zionist regime and its Crimes Against Humanity may be acquiesed to and/or that international law may be negotiated away is a self-delusion.

  • Intelectual and Socialist idealism displaced the Democratic party. In other words the sheep are being sheared. So much for hope and change!

  • Great job!

  • This is what happens when someone gets just enough knowledge to be dangerous....Archive your video, save it onto archival media, then store it in a cool, dry place. Break it out in about 20 years. You'll look at it and say "My God, did I really say THAT?"

  • Please understand I do not mean to be disrespectful, I am only trying to start a good debate. You are obviously an smart person, who knows what they are talking about, I am only trying to to offer a different view, and would like to hear what you and everyone else thinks. Your views are just as meaningful as mine. If the posts become very insulting and hateful, I will not respond, but please be honest and respectively harsh, I can take it. A ggod debate is always supported by passion.

  • Hugs and good thoughts do not bring about change, action does. And by action I do not mean violence. Resolutions do not work they only punish those who need help. So I ask you what do you suggest we do? We have been in negotiations with Iran for years, and never have we outright called for war, yes you have and so has the media. It is an option, but not one anyone wants. If it was it would have already happened. Complaining and not offering solutions only shows ignorance not knowledge.

  • Wake up and face reality! The one of the few countries who provides help to these people is America, and most European countries. The UN does nothing, except make money and commit crimes. If the US does something bad, thats all the world hears about, forget that UN peace keepers are raping and stealing from the people they are suppose to protect that goes unnoticed. All of you want the world tp be peaceful and great. Yet you feel nobody should do anything about it.

  • So the next time you hear people like Bono and other celebrities call for America to do more to help the people around the world who need help. Remember what you have all posted here. It is none of our business and we have no right to push for change. We should ignore the plight of those who are oppressed and suffering. Screw Israel, Sudan, Iran, North Korea, and anyone else. Lets let them all die of starvation due to thier leaders. They do not deserve freedom! Even if they want it.

  • Your right, we should leave everything up to the UN, they have done a wonderful job protecting the civil liberties of the people around the world. They solved the problems in Darfur, stopped the genocide in Iraq, helped the people of Somolia, and have never profited from it. They have done a great job protecting the women and young girls of the world from oppression and torture.

  • Ron Paul isn't simply going to throw people out on the street. Instead, he will phase it out by allowing young people to opt out of SS.

  • he wants to phase it out, because when us youngins get older, there will be none left for us, so im down for giving these generations it but, i dont wana torcher my kids wheni konw there wont be enough toget by
