My parents took me there every Saturday in the mid 60's to watch my Dads buddy, James Summersill, race. He drove the yellow 18. Another name that I remember from those days was Jacky Woosley in the gray 44.

I also have a copy of this video I got from Mac, this was one of the better videos shot out at Meyers. Great to see it again. The year NASCAR ran out there, there wasn't even a video this nice to cover it. Which is really too bad. Boy I sure do miss Meyerland it was a real great thing for Houston. Thanks for sharing it with the world.

Meyer Speedway was near the present-day corner of South Main and Hillcroft in southwest Houston. This was the annual Labor Day Classic in 1967. So many names that come back - Charlie Schild, Billy Perrin, Joe Plowman, Munson Stoddard. Of course, Uncle Billy, who was a track champion multiple times at Joseph P. Meyer, Playland Park, and Arrowhead Speedways in Houston. Bill was sponsored by Frizzell Pontiac, who offered a "Whale Of A Deal", therefore the "Whale Tail" on the #7 car.
