The Great Evelyn Hart always has so much presence , elegance , control and classical lines in every performance , nothing is overacted , just natural as it should be , i would love to see her as Giselle.

she looks very weak :S

Please forgive me for saying, but I don't like her arms and hands. And worse, her students are exactly copies of her, incluing and mostly, Ally.

@academyballet she struggled with anorexia in her youth.. i guess it's something that really stays with you even after you're medically deemed healthy again. :S.

OK--saw the credit at the end, re. the company. Wanted to also say, I really like the four suitors in this. They and their costumes are very elegant, and somehow are more pleasing than is often the case in this piece. Thanks so much for making this available.

Which company is this? Royal Winnipeg? Sounds like they're substituting piano for harp (though the sound quality makes it difficult to be sure). Ms. Hart is one of my favorite ballerinas, & was a role model, starting as late as she did, and dancing as long as she did. At moments here, we see what I think of as her 'tissue paper pointe shoes,' which weren't always for the best, but I loved her anyway. Glad to see her super-talented student, Alys Shee doing so well.

so expressive! amazing how her tiny body takes up so much space in the movement

How old was she when this was recorded?

@actor001 Due to her fragility, and stage presence, Im sure she would have been an AMAZING Giselle. In this performance, she looks frail and weak to me, but I see the technique is there and definitely amazing artistry.

@bolshoiboy8 i agree. if you are talking about Alys Shee. she is amazing.
Since Evelyn Hart was born in 1956 and the date of this video 2001, that would make her about 45. She sadly retired from dance within five years, but not before I was able to preserve a number more live on stage events. Akthough I'd recorded Evelyn in prior personal appearances, this was the first of my preservations of her in performance.
