Not true about the "merchandise sales" if you take any historical context of the 1980's compared to the 90's/2000's. In the 1980's when Hogan sold tens of thousands of T-shirts, he did it WITHOUT internet or any mass-media devices. In Hogan's era, in order to buy merchandise, you either attended the event in person, or you ordered it out of a Magazine. In Austin's era, you could sit in your chair and order merchandise. If Hogan was in Austin's era of on-line buying, he'd be champ.

i know he got paid? but the only reason nwo was about hogan at all was cuz of his creative control clause in his contract. he had a share in it. so did 40 other guys. i hate hogan, but i respect him. im actually an ultimate warrior and macho man fan.

Sigh... He was the leader of the nWo; you think he didn't get paid for the money they brought in? Or do you think all that money went to Scott Norton? Hulk is lucky his fans are so willing to accept his outright lies.

ok, but hogan wasnt a major player when austin got on strong, NWO outsold evrything and everyone. austin 3:16 shirts were everywhere, alongside nWo.

No, he had all those years, and the years following the internet boom. Austin only had the latter, pretty much. And we're not talking about which of the two is the most recognizable.

so from 1980 when he started gaining stem all the way untill 94/95 when the internet went bang and boomed, hogan had the internet? thats a good 15 years he was the most recognizable wrestler, and still is.

Hogan DID have the internet. Not at first, but he was one of WCW's top guys during Austin's run in WWE, and is still in the business today. You can believe whatever excuses Hulk Hogan wants to make, but alongside Ric Flair he's one of the biggest bullshitters in the business.

Heh. Had TNA signed Austin, not Hogan, or Rock, and not Hogan, I'm pretty sure more people would be watching. But no, let's live in a dream world where Hulk Hogan is the biggest star ever and played bass for Metallica. I'm sure he's got his facts right XD

I love that argument. Because it's not like Hogan was in the business before, during, and after the internet, is it? It's not like he's STILL in the business, making money, is it? That's another bullshit Hogan excuse spouted by his fans. On top of what Hogan made from merchandise sales before the internet, he made more from the nWo, when he had the internet sales, too. The fact is, Austin is a far bigger star.

hogan made millions without the internet, and had he had the internet, austin wouldve sold nowhere near as close. and they only show his wwe/f numbers, he also had a ton of awa merch, wcw merch, and his own wrestling toyline and promotion. they also didnt figure in his movies at new line cinema.
