A pretty wild piece by Brazilian electroacoustic composer and guitarist Arthur Kampela for solo piano, performed by Jenny Lin. There isn't really a lot to say about the piece other than that it is of extremely high quality, but the performance is exceptionally good; she gives a lot of meaning and variety to what many would just bang out on the piano and be happy that they didn't miss too many notes.

@John11inch Actually, he's written a lot of AMAZING contemporary music. Please check it out, his string quartet is unbelievable.

This I like. It shows its influences immediately. But its combinations and sheer diversity of sound & gesture and the way he mixes it all up so that it is integrated means a lot to someone who is trying to do some similar but more austere things.Here&there someBolcolm etudesbegins Ginastera- especially some Boulez aggression and leaps 3:28-4:39-then jazzythen late expressionism at 7:40 & before..More Bolcolm .Who is better known than Helps or Session or a million others so not surprising.

Wow, the beginning of the piece is just breathtaking! Why is Kampela almost unknown?

He's not unknown, he's just highly unknown to the contemporary classical scene because he doesn't normally write in this style. As I said, he often writes MUCH more accessible music, and usually works in electroacoustic mediums.
