Classic Game Room HD shows some behind the scenes footage on how to record audio for a video game review. CGRHD uses the Electro-Voice RE-20 professional quality dynamic cardioid microphone and Radio Shack SSM-1200 stereo sound mixer and equalizer with an echo function. Do you want to make video game reviews? Are you interested in learning all of the technical details, recording tricks and video stuff to make reviews? Watch the Classic Game Room HD behind the scenes series to see how we do it. All you need is a few bucks, access to online auctions or garage sales and the will to do it. You can learn a lot from these how-to instructional videos from the pros at CLASSIC GAME ROOM HD.... professional Atari 2600 players that is! No, not really. But we're professionals at making videos. And with the Radio Shack mixing board you can see why. It has handles! You can lift it away from the center of the earth which generates the gravitational field that keeps it firmly planted on the equipment rack! Classic Game Room HD has hundreds of video game reviews from new and classic games from systems like the Atari 2600, 7800, Sega Genesis, Dreamcast, Sega CD, Magnavox Odyssey 2, Playstation 3, PS3, PS2, Xbox 360 and NES.

  • Do you not even a pop shield fro that mic?

Also are all your reviews scripted or do you ad-lib them?

  • Don't need a pop shield in front of it. Occasionally a P is popped but not often. No reviews are scripted, although I retake lines until it sounds right. -CGRHD

  • Ah cool, so do you talk for ages and then edit it down to the best parts, or do you really commentate on the footage being played in front of you?

  • Talk in front of the footage, the best way to comment on the footage! -CGRHD

  • Indeed, lot more comedy then and eliminates running out of things to say and the dreaded "um and er"

So do you edit all the video together as it'll appear in the final piece, and then voice your commentary over it?

  • Yes. Editing is done first, thoughts are collected and recording is done. Sometimes it takes one take, sometimes many more. -CGRHD

  • could you do some close up shots next time?

  • I heard this mic is good for rap vocals as well?

  • @ScrewAttackEurope The RE 20 is designed to redirect the air flow to eliminate plosives, so it does not need a pop filter

  • 3:38 Wow! That has a fuse nob!? I must be pretty old then.

But that's what make it so cool; that and being made of metal and having nice sharp corners.

  • all of the equipment is classic, Respect!

  • @InecomCompany where is LORD KARNAGE ?!

  • You know shit. First of all, your radio shack piece of sh** serves as a preamp.2nd of all, a dynamic mic needs no power supply.

  • How is one supposed to take a microphone review such as this seriously with such rubbish audio - Hopeless!

  • That's a nice microphone, and mixing deck

  • My RE 20 just stopped working on me one day... I wouldn't say it's entirely bulletproof. Now I have to send it to EV Japan.
