  • One of the smoothest voices in all of Southern Gospel Music history! Doy Ott and Jack Laws had voices like butter!

  • @906third

I'm old, too, and they were definitely my favorites in the 60's. Saw them often in Chicago and in Nashville!

  • It is such a pleasure to hear Doy sing....He is awesome

  • Doy wrote this song after his first wife died. Hovie usually told a little about each song before they sang in Long Beach,Ca. I love Doy's voice & enjoyed him singing Plus he could play the piano really well. They were my favorite group in the 60s - yes I am old!

  • What a beautiful song! It's impossible for me to listen to the lyrics and not be moved. Doy Ott does an outstanding job here, and like so many of you, I wish we could have heard more solos from him. Thank you so much for posting this!

  • @joeott69

I think all baritone singers are under-appreciated, but Doy Ott more than most. He had a wonderful voice and of course could also take over piano duties when Hovie wanted to move around. Doy takes center stage on a song called "God Will Bless You All" that I just love.

Can you tell me where he is buried? I'm trying to make a list of where gospel singers are buried, but I can't find any information for Mr. Ott.

  • Beautiful tenor singing.

  • @Froggy19510 Can't you just imagine the choir?

  • Doy Ott is under appreciated in the Southern Gospel music industry. It is not too late to give Doy Ott the recognition he deserves. How about it Bill Gaither?

  • Doy Ott wasn't the most prominent member of the Statesmen Quartet, but if he hadn't been there they wouldn't have sounded so good. Jake Hess once said that Doy had one of the widest voice ranges he ever heard.God bless you Doy Ott. We miss you and Hovie, Jake,Denver,Rosie and all of the Statesmen who have go on to Glory.
