Owl attempts dognapping in south Spokane

An eight-pound dog named Mary Lou narrowly escaped being carried away by an owl on Spokane's South Hill over the weekend, and veterinarians say dog-napping attempts like these are not that uncommon. KXLY4's McKay Allen reports.

True owls are very silent fliers, but not all owls hunt strictly by night, many hunt at dawn or dusk and a few might hunt during the day when prey is scarce and in the case of Short ear owls, they hunt by day very much.

I think she made it up. Owls Generally dont hunt during light hours..They are most active at the darkest periods of the night....and she wouldnt have heard the owl flapping its wings....
