If cops need a warrant to go through a house, they need a warrant to go through someone's internet files. They can get a warrant faxed to their car, but they can't get it faxed to their office? Yeah, it'll slow down the investigation, by a few minutes. If you can spend hours, or even days, investigating a crime, you can wait a few minutes for a fax. If the suspect was gonna run, they'd have done it a long time ago, and if they were that smart, they'd have destroyed their hard drive as well.
