John McAllister set the world record for Asteroids, beating out the 28-year-old world record from 1982 by over 2,000 points. Asteroids is a class Atari http://www.sodahead.com/entertainment/john-mcallister-sets-asteroids-world-re... arcade game. John McAllister is a 41-year-old Seattle locksmith. He says the hardest part about beating the world record was staying awake through his third and final day of playing Asteroids.
I broke the record when I was a mere 15 years old when I played for 40 hours and racked up over 18 million points and about 250 free ships. Ships clear across the screen and inside the computer. A friend of mine broke the record, I stayed up with him all night. Last thing I said to him before I left was that I'm going to break his record. Well a few months later I ran into him and by that time I had already broke his 36 hour record and some odd points.

This is wrong. He got 41,338, 740 points. Not "41 million, three hundred thirty six thousand points."
Scott Safran's the one that got 41,336,440.
RIP Scott!
