John McAllister set the world record for Asteroids, beating out the 28-year-old world record from 1982 by over 2,000 points. Asteroids is a class Atari http://www.sodahead.com/entertainment/john-mcallister-sets-asteroids-world-re... arcade game. John McAllister is a 41-year-old Seattle locksmith. He says the hardest part about beating the world record was staying awake through his third and final day of playing Asteroids.

  • I broke the record when I was a mere 15 years old when I played for 40 hours and racked up over 18 million points and about 250 free ships. Ships clear across the screen and inside the computer. A friend of mine broke the record, I stayed up with him all night. Last thing I said to him before I left was that I'm going to break his record. Well a few months later I ran into him and by that time I had already broke his 36 hour record and some odd points.

  • This is wrong. He got 41,338, 740 points. Not "41 million, three hundred thirty six thousand points."

Scott Safran's the one that got 41,336,440.
