The PBS NewsHour is receiving a special honor from the The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences: the Chairman's Award for excellence in news and documentary work. Receiving the award on the behalf of the entire program will be Jim Lehrer, Robert MacNeil, Les Crystal and Linda Winslow.

In its announcement, the academy stated that the "PBS NewsHour represents 35 years of excellence and has the respect of journalists everywhere, as well as millions of viewers nightly seeking a clear picture of what is happening in the world."

This special video retrospective looks back on the NewsHour's broadcasting history and will be shown at the ceremony.
