My Favorite Birds of Prey - Philippine Eagle (Monkey-eating Eagle) This large and impressively predatory bird is one of the world's largest and most powerful birds on the planet.
wow now I understand how an eagle can get a little child. There are stories about that in our family that go far back, but im from California and there are no more eagles there now that could steal a child.
@NorwegianKnifeDude Although Harpy and Philippine eagle live far apart from each other they occupy the same niche and are Forest eagles found only in tropical climate like the Philippines and S. America, both have the taste for mammals like monkeys thru convergent evolution and I am not matching them up for a fight. tho I will agree that both are awesome magnificent creatures.
@NorwegianKnifeDude -You were saying that more weight of a birds means more muscle though they are similar in size? How would you know If It has more muscle and less fat between the two? you r speculating! If that is the case It means the Steller sea eagle is a lot stronger than the two forest eagles? Stellers eagle is the world's heaviest eagle averaging 15-20 lbs. It's more accurate If you will based it from their heaviest documented prey takings and carries to the nest..
@iyakabud on average the harpy eagle is heavier than the Philippine eagle. More weight in general cases of birds mean more muscle since they have very little fat. However they are very similar in size, and one can't possibly know which is "stronger in a fight", because they live on different continents, unless you judge by mass of muscle. Both incredible and awesome creatures nonetheless!
@DevTitanwood - I hope we could do the same with the Philippine eagle But there are many factors that may affect it's recovery like the shrinking Forest habitat and the Philippine eagle rears only one eaglet every two years which they will feed for more than a year unlike the Bald eagle which has two to tree chick every nesting period. ; (
