Level 2- The Empire Strikes Back NES / AT-ATs

PLEASE COMMENT! The following is part of a video-only walkthrough of "The Empire Strikes Back" title for the original Nintendo. There are ten levels total.

LEVEL 2: AT-AT Battle (Battle of Hoth)
A lovely update to the Atari 2600 Empire Strikes Back game. You can fire blasters at the AT-AT walkers to bring them down, but the two more effective ways are secret and undocumented in the game's manual. First, you can aim for the walkers' leg joints and press SELECT to fire a harpoon. That will auto-wrap the walkers' legs and bring them down in one shot. You only have five harpoons.
In addition, when your speeder is shot down, you can walk on Hoth's surface as usual. Position Luke between a walker's legs and press Up + A. Luke will run into the background, ascend to the walker's belly, toss in a detonator and rappel down automatically! Instant destruction for the walker, and that technique can be used indefinitely. A combination of those three techniques will make a usually long level much shorter.

Most people never got through the first few levels of this flawed, but impressive NES game. As such, most online reviews and videos are done only with the first Hoth level as reference. Since few online resources even have screenshots of later levels, these videos are meant for illustrative purposes so gamers can see what they missed.

i used to kill first two with lasers because the base guns help, and tow cable for the ones close together, the rest i laser or do manually like- 2:15- best part of the whole game.

@mitrooper lol, that is nitpicking considering this game completely changes the ending of the movie. ;)

This level was tough and I just flew around aimlessly many times trying to figure out what to do. In the end, I did everything done in this video: attacked from behind, attacked from the ground and wrapped their legs and blew their head after. I also knew about crashing on the ground instead of being shot down. The only way to figure this level out was to have seen the movies and emperiment.

You dont have to get shot down to exit the speeder. I used to play this game all the time, Id fly back to the shield generator and drag my speeder along the ground and it would crash. Then I would have a speeder without having to kill any stormies
