So I took the plunge and bought a Spec Miata. My motivatin was to put the GT3 aside for a while to learn on a cheaper momentum car. The GT3 is just soooo fast and expensive that I do not feel it is the right car to use as a learning tool. Ultimately I want to go back to the GT3, but only when I feel I have progressed enough as a driver.

As it turns out this video is from my second track day with the car and I already feel I am trail braking much more than I was before. The Miata is very forgiving and truly is a fantastic (and cheap) platform to learn on.

It was weird to leave for a track event and walk past my GT3 that stayed in the garage. However, I do look forward to getting back out with the Miata and continue to learn skills as a driver.

Enjoy....

  • You probably have not heard much about it as it is a private track generally for members only. However, they do allow outside clubs to come in from time to time. The track is a lot of fun and is located in New York in the USA. Hope you get a chance to get here at some point!

  • LOL, lovin the team name :)

2nd time today I have seen this course, it looks fantastic, how come I have never heard of it. I thought it must be Frace or Italy but you are from USA, is in the US?

I agree with your sentiments re: the GT3 v Miata, I coach race drivers in the UK and put many of them in our UK Miata (MX5) series to learn their craft. Many, despite being very wealthy stay there and regularly track the Miata. GT3 great for those European trips to the Ring and Spa though.
