@CDRaccoon Religion as a valid reason for war was denounced in Europe in 1648 - the crusades were somewhat earlier.

As for spreading religion by barbaric slaughter, that was exactly how Islam spread - the crusades was a response to that. Self defence is certainly accpetable.

Maybe you should read some books on history and religion before voicing opinions and putting words into the mouths of others

Here let me help bury you: So it is perfectly acceptable to barbarically slaughter non believers and wage religious warfare because another religion is spreading? And not only that, but that the time of the crusaides, christianity practiced in a very extreme way, and in that regard were no different to islam at the time. There's no redemption in killing people for religion, and you better start getting that.

and the Crusades happened at at a time where Islam was spreading very fast more or less viping out Christian North- and East Africa and eventually causing the enslavement of the negro populations.

When Islam was finally stopped in tha Balkans and on the Iberian peninsula it was far from given that they could be kept at bay and western civilization would survive.

The Crusades were attempts to RESTORE Christian lands.

@CDRaccoon Well you can find insane or evil individuals in any group, but you dont see large and widesprad groups of Christians persecuting or harming others for religious reasons for centuries while Mohammedans routinely kill Christians, burn down churches etc. because they claim God demands it.

As for history - the conflict in NorthernIreland has never been about religious differences - it was/is an Irish/English ethnic conflict.
