April 8 1998,this was a very sad day for all at the factory...it was the final hot metal production shutdown.98 years of fine elegant handmade American glassware gone for good & I was the last & only person to select & pack the last piece of glassware off the lehr.I have in My possession that last piece of glassware.I give credit to Charles "Smokey" Moore for using My camcorder to produce this video while I worked the cold end of the factory that day.take notice at the ending of this video,I shot "Smokie" ladleing the pots out in the hotmetal department before I walked out the door for good.to this day the factory stands idle as a storage unit for a local investor.
