"Beauty and the Beast" remains the only traditionally hand-drawn animated feature to be nominated, while "Up" was the first computer-animated feature to be nominated, and "TS3" is both the second computer-animated feature to be nominated, as well as the second "third installment" of an original feature to be nominated (the other is "The Godfather Part III"). If you want to talk about "Worst Best Picture nominees", look no further than "Babe" and "The Blind Side".
o man the footage shown here of Beauty and the Beast is so much more "at home" than the new remastered blu-ray version. Why did they have to CHANGE so much?! The color scheme here seems so much more natural and not mention, more real despite it being an animated feature. These "remasterings" - questionable to my eyes more than ever.
@hawaiiwaves1221 Oh, I don't know about that last part. Have you ever seen Grave of the Fireflies? It's a Studio Ghibli film, and it's in Japanese with English subtitles, but it is so powerful. A different kind of powerful than Disney usually makes, but just as good.
@drxwnedxwxrld UP! too..

The graphics for beauty and the beast were better than the graphics used at the oscars that year lol

You knew the academy wasn't going to give it the award. The SAG probably would've rioted =P

@Joshorty I agree. That's why I've hung onto every single VHS copy of the Disney animated films to avoid this dilemma.

If the oscars never switched to ten nominations, then this film would definitely still be the ONLY animated film nominated for Best Picture.
