did you visit the whore house? it was right down the street from el amatillo in honduras haha.

I wish that worked for me but it does not at this border crossing. At El Amitillo, If they do not see one of "their" porters with me they don't stop the yelling and all that jazz. I have been across this border 4x now and there is definately a difference as to if you are heading south or north. Also the time of day seems to have a big effect on the hassle plus number of porters around.
El Amitillo is the only border like this and or this bad on the Pan Am Hwy.

Wow, it seems to be a nightmare to cross to Honduras from El Salvador!

The Central American land borders can be a zoo, even on foot. But certainly with a private car. I find that the most hassle free way to cross would be with one of the deluxe bus companies. In general, I rate El Salvador one of the best with signs telling you not to pay, etc. The worst chaos is Nicaragua-and they charge!

LOL those guys don't have anything to do and they just "work" to "help you or guide you" with the official border duties and after you are ready to cross the border they expect you to TIP them LOL but only cause you were GRINGOS they were interested in a "GOOD TIP" besides that, they were trying to be friendly but can be annoying LMAO

This is really really cool, it is like a real life documentary. I had heard that those crossing points can be a head ache but you were able to capture this.
porters? who are they and why is it so difficult to cross into honduras? what was the problem?

Porters help you cross the border, offer a service for a feee. Usually it is simply a tip for their help.
#1 our Spanish is limited. #2 We have a vehicle and dog with us so it is not like walking across the border. #3 If there is a bribe that has to be paid these guys often handle that.
I do not claim they are required. They can be helpful and make the process go quick and easy but...they also are running scams so you have to watch out.
