There are good sincere performers. Tracy is one of the best. Playing outdoor fests in the Summer she delivers, go see her if you can.

@markovchaney1950 That is her 1st LP and was on the Prestige label. It was a well respected label and that was a bit of a different project for them.

Absurd to say who was "better," Janis or Tracy. They were very different sorts of singers and performers and both were great. Tracy has the advantage of having lived and lasted as a person and artist. But having seen both live, I consider myself very fortunate.
For those who have never heard her work BEFORE Mother Earth, see if you can get your hands on DEEP ARE THE ROOTS, either her first or close to her first album.

For the longest time, here on YouTube, there was only this clip and a much earlier clip from the Mother Earth days. But now--thanks to Boohface and a few others--there's a plethora of Tracy videos posted. Including two different versions of this tune--one is with the Chicago Blues Reunion and is NOT under Tracy's own name, so you need to use the band name as your search term.

I ordered a CD from her website as a birthday gift for my sister. It was delayed; I wrote to ask about it, and got an email from Tracy, herself, offering me an additional, free CD, and she sent a handwritten, signed birthday card to my sister.She said: "... I hate to disappoint anyone on their birthday, and I DO have some pull around this place." One helluva lady!
