I don't necessarily disagree with his stance people naturally are afraid that someone different will take or encroach on something they have or worked for. People naturally stick with people who look, or talk as they do this is not racism but could be self preservation. It takes stepping outside the bounds of who you are to think different. Things will one day change when Jesus inhabits the earth for his 1000 year reign before the judgement and then only will the lion lye down with the sheep.
