  • Shoe polish, yes, it's true. Food photographers have lots of tricks like shoe polish to make food extra yummy looking. For instance, when shooting beverages with ice, in most cases the ice is actually plastic cubes, not real ice, it looks like ice, but does not melt under the hot camera lights.
