A wee tutorial on how i play - damn, what's that song called again, LOL, "Never goes back again" by Fleetwood Mac in the alternate tuning of CGDGBE.

I actually had no idea what i was going to play PRIOR to recording.. enjoy the chaos.

    Thanks, hope it helps!!

  • i feel like an idiot but i can't figure out how you tuned your guitar can you give me each string tuning?

do you have a dixon guitar? i love its sound! thats what i try to play!

    thanks

    Bill

  • @tophatbill I've a capo on the 2nd fret to confuse you ;)! It's basically standard tuning except for the two lowest bass strings and is tuned as 1=e 2=b 3=g 4=d 5=G (standard is "A", so drop a whole note to an octave below the open 3rd string) 6=C (standard is "E" , so it's dropped to two notes down to 2 octaves below the 2nd string first fret) The guitar's a '73 Ibanez Concorde, my 1st and best sounding guitar and after 30 years of playing all over the planet we are ONE. ;) thanks!!

  • Great lesson, thanx! I play it in another way, but this is the original way I think! Very good! And so funny the start: AAHEEMMMMM, what I'm playing here!? This could be me! I always forget the lyrics and start with a song and think: DAMN, what comes now?! And must ask the audience to help! ;-)By the way, Nice Guitar!

All the best from Germany / Cologne

  • @Voices67

    Thanks!!

I was just watching a Stefan Grossman vid the other day, and got to thinking how an old photocopy

of his "Delta blues guitar" book and especially the "St. Louis Tickle" that got me started on the guitar.

    Nostalgia week eh?

    cheers

  • Flashback to 25 years ago and sitting in a flat in Edinburgh listening to my brother and his friends ( sometimes 5 or more) playing. They made it look so easy I wanted to play too! I sold my flute, bought a guitar. They taught me the basics with Fleetwood Mac, Pink Floyd, and a 12 bar blues. Great times! Thank you for the familiar lesson style and the memory,

    Cheers
