  • high scool students and adults eh? well i'm 13 so let's see how this turns out!

  • I have students that are only 14, but any age works if have an interest in learning computers and working as a computer tech someday.

  • Audio is not in sync with the video.

I have a question though, what exactly do you mean by "All processing and STORAGE is case internal?"

For storage in particular, what about external storage devices?... flash/pen drives, external hard drives, NAS, etc etc...

I've also noticed the term "discrete" being used by manufacturers when referring to expansion cards, e.g. a discrete graphics card. Is this term a legitimate adjective for such cards or not?

    Thanks

  • Hello, CPU, RAM, and hard drive are all needed to boot and run the computer. RAM is primary storage and the hard drive is secondary. The term discrete means different things to different people. Greg

  • @9000failurez Actually, the metal on the inside is magnetically charged. Magnetic charges are + or - (translated to 1 or 0) The magnetic charge put onto the disk, by directing magnetic energy onto it. There are no metal pieces. The plates look like flat disks.

  • @frenchge I read somewhere that the the modern hard drive has a metal plate within it which is a magnet that manipulates pieces of metal and depnding on their postion, different types of data are stored on it. So, if the magnet attracts all the metal onto the plate, does that mean the hard drive is full? I'm still a bit confused and wish to understand fully how a hard drive holds information.

  • Thank you i have been looking for a great web site to learn from this is the best i will watch every video i want to learn and be able to get into the computer business.

  • Mr French, I took Computer Repair I and II with Ron Schenkelberg at ROP and I remember your name on the board for a course. I am going to re-visit A+ lessons so I can take the exam, thanks for putting it on youtube.
