@JJMCPS To make sure that the anime doesn't catch up to the manga they use fillers. This might for example be what jml was talking about, where they take an event and add stuff to make it longer. Alternatively they add an entire arc (an example here would be the boat journey from the last 20 episodes)

Most of the time this is harmless and boring. And sometimes it changes the plot by saying that god realm could do elemental ninjutsu which it can't.
