Here Come the Tears is the debut album by The Tears, released on June 6, 2005 on Independiente Records. The album received praise prior to its release from the NME who called it, "The best album you'll hear this year, by a mile". The album proved a comeback for Bernard Butler and Brett Anderson as the album was praised by critics and fans alike. Though due to a flood of albums, including those by The White Stripes and Coldplay, the album charted at a relatively weak #15. As a strange sidenote, former Britpop stars Damon Albarn (of Blur & Gorillaz) and Oasis released albums only weeks apart from the ex-Suede duo.
The album sees a much more mature contribution by Anderson on the lyrical side, as he strayed away from his often attacked use of redundant vocabulary. Bernard Butler's production is notable for its use of the "wall of sound", thus creating a lush backdrop for Anderson's vocals.
Brett and Bernard should have continued writing music together after releasing this album.
For some reason, I've seen it get slagged a lot. Sure, it's not another "Suede" or "Dog Man Star". Still, "Here Come The Tears" includes many great songs that craps on a lot of the competition!
