We treat it like "holy word" because it OUTLINES PRINCPLES THAT *ARE* TIMELESS!
Principles need not change, and that's what the Constitution is about. Particular applications of principles change, yes. And, for example, their stance on guns is actually an application of a principle, so that could change. But the Constitution, at its heart, is about principle, and that doesn't change, and need not -- and, in the case of the C, shouldn't change.

I wonder if the constitution was remade today from the ground up, what it would end up looking like.

Methinks you ask some pertinent questions, the answers to which are unlikely to be imminently forthcoming within this forum. If I may add an outsider's, geographically and scholastically, two cents, I imagine it will be seen in time as an important stepping stone to world governance and global society. I've been coming to the conclusion for sometime that this New World Order is going to be something very different from anything imagined. Wonder if the means will be proved justified by the end?

The Constitution is so highly valued because it is timeless. It is timeless because the values of freedom and liberty are timeless. It is a rare and hard won deviation from the status quo of the oppressive history of mankind. It should be self evident. Who would choose slavery over freedom, tyranny over self determination? Respect what you've inherited and ensure you're progeny the same inheritance of personal liberty & restrained govt. via diligence and preservation. Ps i wipe my ass w/ bible!

Who worships the Constitution? Tell me who they are so that I can worship them! I'm half joking...and half serious. Replace the U.N. Charter with the U.S. Constitution. But perhaps amend the first part of Article 6 so that no treaty or agreement of any kind can supercede the Constitution. Oh...and repeal the 16th Amendment. Base globalism on Namaste Constitutional Responsible Freedom. This would be a True World Order (TWO).

i suppose it has to do with the fact that these are technically 'Americas Rules'-
since these rules are meant to keep order of how our government and democracy works we try to hold on to what the U.S. Constitution follows.
it's unfortunate that it's still not up to date.
but i feel that everyone uses the U.S. Bill of Rights more than the U.S. Constitution. It's more for individual rights as a citizen.

Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety. -benjamin franklin and it should be treated with respect because it protects us..Artical 1 section 10 says nothing but gold and silver should used as legal tender. You sell one partof it... you sell it all... Americans deserve no freedom with this kind of thinking.. Taste the curses we are now under you faithless fools.

Having the Constitution to refer to as the bottom line, and then doing so is not worship. The Bible was also written by men and has been amended to suit various purposes, and it is not worshipped either...or at least it shouldn't be. Worship is supposed to reserved for God.

We respect the Constituton so much because it defines freedom. It prevents a government from being tyrannical to the point where it would be destroyed if it tried to.

I love to debate the validity of the bible and the importance of the constitution.
In short we are a country of laws. We were not founded to be led by an almighty king or even a senate. Our founding fathers intended that America would be a country led by the people and not by an select #. The constitution and the bill of rights protect that right. The Magna Carta and Mayflower compact are also documents that remove power from a king and give power to the masses. Do we still need em? I dont know

If you dont like the US get the hell out!! Your way of thinking is the problem, and no now days people do not read and study the constitution like they should! If you dont know your rights, then you dont have any!
Here's why it's revered: tradition. Why it should be respected: Historical significance. Why should it be followed? Insofar as it agrees with sound logic, the Constitution is a great start for a nation's political system. In practice, we don't actually respect it as much as we do the interpretations others have taken of it. If you consider the document in its original context a lot of the limitations and cautions it holds are still extremely relevant.

I think you're silly. It's not a bible, it's a legal contract. It protects the people from the power of governmental oppression. It is the Supreme Law of the land: as in, we worship the "rule of law" as opposed to rule of men, rule of force, rule of anything.

You are silly. I made a comparison. I did not say it was the same. You basically repeated what I said. My question, though, you did answer... so you are not so silly.
