A buzzard egg is mistakenly delivered to two sparrows, Monte and Gwendolyn. The "upper crusty" and very proper English Sparrows are not accustomed to having a repulsively ugly (and incredibly stupid) little bird about.

Strife with Father is a 1948 Merrie Melodies animated film directed by Bob McKimson, released in 1950, starring voice actor Mel Blanc as Beaky Buzzard.

This marked the final appearance of Beaky in an animated short.

This cartoon is the work of genius and far above the appreciation level of its targeted audience: children. Listen to the impeccable voice characterizations of the immortal Mel Blanc and the the sound effects alone. Masterfully done. And the artists' touch. All around this is a masterpiece of comedy.

When I was a kid, this was one of my favorites...one day my buddy called to tell me it was on, and my sister wouldn't let me watch it. I never saw it again until today, 35 years later...thank you Youtube!

"Buzzard" is common American slang for vultures. I always assumed he was based on a turkey vulture, myself.

Canonically he's a buzzard, but he looks more like a condor.
