I think it's actually "Monty", not "Monte", short for "Montgomery", as in Field Marshall Montgomery. That makes more sense, in post-WWII America. Monty was world-famous, and would have been a stereotypical name for use in a cartoon. That is, of course, unless WB's own documentation lists him as "Monte".

I can't stop laughing at this stupid bird! I've seen this about 100 times and it still cracks me up. Where r the cartoons like this nowadayz?! Poor kids have to look at crap jumbled into an episode of a crappy cartoon or show.
