Close your eyes. It's eerie, but George sounds something like Freddie's younger brother. His vocal quality is quite close to Freddie's. If George had chosen rock and roll as his style (instead of Euro-style pop / R&B), he'd probably sound exactly like Freddie!

I really think that GEORGE MICHAEL did the best at that concert!!!!
From my point of view he's the last LEGEND in music with the great voice.
After Freddie Mercury (solo), QUEEN...Geroge is my favorite singer all time :)

David Bowie watching George Michael, f*ck that's the best!!!

Absolute classic with Bowie looking on

Great singing! After Freddie....
IMHO -It is maybe better frontman for Queen, than Paul Rogers.

Great song and great voice...
The whole point of the concert was to pay tribute to Freddie and I think all of the performers that day did their best to do just that. After all, they all knew they were filling some pretty big shoes. However, of them all I believe George Michael really nailed it. Not only was his vocal performance perfection but he made it a point to include the audience, a very Freddie thing to do. Way to go, George!

In my opinion this is not a better (nor worse) than "the actual". This is just an excellent version of the original song, sung by another vocalist who's got a great voice and all the capabilities required for singing such a difficult song. Freddie ranged three octaves without falsetto, he was a great performer, a huge showman, a personality. I like to think that George Michael did not sing this song to compare himself with Freddy. So, who are we to compare them? Enjoy a great performance!
