I remember this SO well! I was turning 12 that following Summer. When my mother opened up our front door, there was LITERALLY, another door, a wall of white, all snow. it was UP to the roof. So we had to literally dig our way out of the house, and make a tunnel to our next door neighbors. The adults were all trying to figure out what to do food and money-wise, while us kids were playing in it building igloos. That is one Winter I definitely will never forget.

This guy, Bob, was not entirely correct as regards transportation: the trains continued to run . . . from Boston toward Providence, at least.

I was 37 years old when we had the blizzad in Providence RI. Storm got bad so every store and busines let everyone out at 3pm. Traffic jammed and the cars were there for 6 days. Even RT 95 was a parking lot. Thunder snow with 60 mph wind for 36 hours that dumped 5ft of snow. Were walked in snow with cars under us! Many never ever found their cars. Some fron end loaders picked up cars and dumped them on sidewalk. Took 7 days to start getting back normal.
