I think Marcin is a supporter of the Venus Project though. He was on a radio show talking about it and he seemed pretty supportive. :)

If you have energy you have all the resources you need ... that is a pretty big statement he glanced over. Not that I don't like his ideas ... this is great, this is the kind of stuff that can jump-start democracy.
So are those building materials OK'ed by local zoning ordinances. I don't think he structure that was shown was built out of rammed earth bricks! ;-)

No...Sorry but energy was never an issue.
If you do some research you'll find that the potential energy for renewables are enough to supply humanity energy needs for millenniums. Just look at Geothermal energy and it's potential to power the whole world just from the Great Rift in Africa.
The problem isn't a lack of available energy source... is the lack of money to invest/ research those potential energy sources.
The technology is here today.... Shame corruption is here today as well.

0.3% of U.S. land covered by solar concentrators? That's (3.5M sq mi) * (0.003) = 105,000 sq mi. of concentrators.
Cost of concentrator = aprox $4 / sq. ft. x 1 sq mi = $100M
$100M x 100,000 mi = 1x10E13 ($10,000,000,000,000)
Add infrastructure $5T
Fifteen trillion dollars. Let's see... that's 1/4 the GDP of the entire planet.
