avinoam, you might want to do some reading about the story of the Birem people. They are part of a large Israeli community who are defined as "existing-missing people" (Nifkadim-Nochachim" in Hebrew). Israel consider them "missing" even though they are very here among us. Not in the west bank or in any enemy state. Its hard to believe but its true.

It depends where are these people uprooted, and where is this Kafar Birem. I the people of the village are scattered in Arab enemy lands- then of course the Israeli government wouldn't let these people go in the village. The same thing is if this village is in the palestine authority.
Anyway, it is sad.. I hope that the uprooted are living a good life (they have a country as you said, and they have a place to live).

in 48 there was a war going on.
may i remind you that the thriving jewish community that existed in birem until the arabs, then the crusaders, and finally the turks passed through the village until only the ancient synagogue was left.

Our Vision for a Just Solution:
The recognition of the ownership of our land, as well as our right to return to it and to our homes, and the recognition of all that this process entails.
We are not claiming back, to our use, the portion of our land used by the settlements.
We wish to live in peace.
We see no reason for our property to remain confiscated.
