And yearly floods which usually hit Indonesia at the beginning of each year are already threatening Jakartas citizens. Two days of torrential rain has blocked some of the main roads and nearby homes. Here's more from our Jakarta Bureau.
There are at least 8 main roads that are flooded, disturbing locals trying to cross the roads in their cars. Unfortunately for some, their cars broke down in the water.

For Jakartas people, the rainy months of January and February have already become a yearly cycle of floods. Especially for those living by the riverside, the flood season has become a routine, which they must face.

However, some have prepared to face the disaster.

[Medi Jakarta River-Side Citizen]:

Oh, Im a little worried if the big flood comes, so I always watch television to monitor the condition, I watch the water level near my door. If the waters gets too high, I will immediately get out from here. We have already made emergency sleeping places. You can see up there, weve already made space near the ceiling.

But some locals havent thought much about the floods or prepared for them.

[Limi Jakarta River-Side Citizen]:

The last flood disaster reached this height personally, Im not prepared for anything, so if the flood comes, I will stay here. Maybe what I can do is put my personal things up in higher places.
