what happend here is as bad or worse than the Nazis, thats why america gives Vietnam millions every year in compensation for the horrors they inflicted on the civilian population

@schwupppa during this era everything was US vs Russia. both countries were afraid the other would attack so they needed as many allies as possible. it just so happens that CUBA and VIETNAM are important strategic points to get as close to the ENEMY as possible. The funny thing is the SPACE RACE was to get "wmd's" on the moon and the russians launched the satellite and the us thought it may possess "wmd's" and the race was on!

The war started as a false flag (U.S. initiated). The Gulf of Tonkin!!! The rest is history. Ugly and dirty war!

It was not a cohesive strategy to use the slaughter of civilians and the rapping of women and children, there were incidents and they are isolated only in that they were covered-up, but it was not our goal. And its not like we hid ourselves from what we were doing with SOG, it was called a program of terrorism. Its just that terrorism is now bastardized since 9/11.
The CIA did perform some fucked up actions with the Phoenix Program, however.

You are blind to history if you don't realize the political nature of Communism. It has to be a political system for it to actualize its economic goals.
The country was in a civil war, we were involved, presumably, to protect the right of the South Vietnamese government to exist. Naturally, we are there to protect our interests, but so were the Soviets, Chinese, and NVA.
Very interesting documentary. There is not much information about why the US entered the war in the first place. "comunism against democracy"? come on - comunism is an economical system, not a political one. In reality that country was trying to get rid of the imperialistic western powers, and the US and it's people in charge didn't want to loose influence. Same story as Afghanistan and Iraq: US is securing "our" ressources. RIP the ones who die for that.

@NicolazDamian When you're a superpower, you can justify your crimes against humanity. When you're not, it's terrorism. You can also sponsor a national terrorist organization called the CIA as well as Israel's Mossad. That's the way of the world. Don't like it? Too bad.
