They were all on view
the oglers
peering, smearing window glass
with their noses
seeing what they could see
and what they could do,
staring to absorb
someone else's cause,
uncaring and verbose
with a host of permeable
poses, offering opinions
rumour and supposes
to the uninvolved,
sticking their oars in
cackling and cawing
to all and sundry
they like to ogle
do the oglers
and when a net curtain
twitches
you can bet your britches
an ogler
is lurking, looking
for something new
to goggle at
to enhance the second-hand
dance
on which they thrive
barely alive,
but watching
still.
