On Sunday, July 26, 2009, in Malcolm X Park, in Washington, DC, "The Peoples Rally" for a Single Payer Healthcare system was held. It featured a "Speak Out" by the uninsured and the underinsured; and by patients, doctors, nurses, political and community leaders. The Rev. Lennox Yearwood performed a hip hop improv for healthcare for all at the rally. He's the President and CEO of the Hip Hop Caucus. See, http://www.hiphopcaucus.org/ On bass with Rev. Yearwood was Joel Segal; on drums, Deion Walker; and on the keyboard, Mikuak Rai. The latter also served as the moderator of the program. The lively event was sponsored and supported by the Labor Campaign for Single-Payer, Metropolitan Washington Council AFL-CIO, Healthcare Now, and the Spirit of Truth Foundation.
For background on Single Payer, see: http://www.healthcare-now.org and
