LOL@ straining, yeah he has always sounded like that - it's his trademark voice.
The Femmes are still recording, they just released their new album with a version of "Crazy". He strains through that one too lolololol.

oh BTW it was s Stratocaster guitar...the head stock is the give away and the scratch plate.
And then again, I am a piano player, not a guitarist, so how the fleck would I really know. XD XD XD

WELL, this band was cult status and for some reason their lyrics hit Aussie hearts.
The song just b4 the finally was 'day after day' otherwise known as "why can't I
get, just 1 fock" we ll you the word.
In my book they are one of the reasons I wanted to play on stage, their band exists in the 'energy' realm as opposed to say 10cc/Toto that live in the 'note perfect' realm.
It was a dream come true for me.
