I held up the software in the video. The original software is useless since the company is out of business and no longer runs the needed server. And even when the server was up it was such blatant spyware I wouldn't install it. However if you search on the Internet there is software which allows it to be used as a regular bar code scanner.

too bad ocr isnt that advanced yet

i meant it can scan the isbn barcode on the back of books, which will put it into google books for you. Like in google book, new book, and then scan all your books in.

@kraamerXmich It only scans barcode. To scan text you need a regular scanner and character recognition software.

So like, can it scan words? like, could i open MS Word, for example, and scan some text from a book or something and have it insert it onto the word document? that would be really neat...

I had one of those but I never seen a reason for it so I gave it away lol.
