Roger that, looked like it was blowing pretty hard too, combination of factors. Good alternative PLA choice with a bit of shelter as landing crosswind by the look of it due to alti on approach. The trees can produce some turbulence though.

Yea, but I guess when you're hoping to still make the DZ these things tend to happen, I've had this same scenario play out luckily made it back though. (Half brakes & Wind help)

Might have helped to collapse your slider to get better penetration into that wind. @skytrash half brakes wouldn't have got him anywhere just slowed his ground and airspeed! Was it a case of poor spotting or tracking downwind?

@foxtrotzeroalpha I was still relatively new at the time and never bothered to collapse the slider then.. didnt know much about canopy
It was a case of bad spot, and never looking down during free fall .. and i opened at normal alt rather than higher to make up for the distance that i never saw in the first place

You knew you were in trouble right after opening, huh? Same thing happened to me and had to land out...almost made it back with half breaks but the wind was keeping from reaching the DZ. Landed safe tho.

@katyu16 I knew, but I wasnt sure... if the wind had not been in my face I could of made it back, but a bunch of little mistakes led to the final outcome.. this is a learning experience.
