I saw them at Lakenheath US Air Base in Suffolk, England in 1984. My friend took me to celebrate my 21st birthday, three weeks after my mother died. Bitter-sweet memories.This song was released a few years earlier, but they sang it that night and it still makes me smile and breaks my heart in equal measure. I love this band.

I love this song so much, I was about 14 years old when I first heard it back in the early 80s, and yet even now every time I hear it I get chills down my spine. I love all the arrangements on this song, I love the tempo, the lyrics, the vocals, the wow wow guitar effect, the subtle piano but most of all I love the classic violin strings that keeps pace throughout the the song with sweet haunting melody pacing up and down in various pitches. Fantastic song, thank you Rose Royce.
