The Young Americans for Liberty chapter at California State University, Fullerton participated in a community service event on campus as they educated high school students about the effects that tariffs have on our every day lives.
In this instance, we allowed students to taste the difference between a Coca Cola that was produced in America and one that was produced in Mexico, and we asked which one they preferred. The majority of students chose the Mexican bottle.
Why?
Because the United States government has put a tariff on sugar imports. This high cost has caused Coca Cola to switch sugar with high fructose corn syrup (a substance which is subsidized) for their products in America.
Meanwhile, every other country enjoys the sweet taste of Coca Cola in its purest form.
