Steel shafts have more pronounced spines than graphite shafts. Graphite shafts have two spines...a primary...and a secondary. Always line up with the primary. Also, line up the spine at 9:00 instead of the 3:00 as recommended here. Why? Because at 3:00, the clubhead weight resists the spine. At 9:00, the clubhead flexs easily with the spine and applies the clubhead with a bit more snap.
Bronson--I enjoyed watching this video, however, I am a little confused. After watching other videos, some say that the spine should be at 9 o'clock and you say that the spine should be at 3 o'clock. Can you clear up this confusion for me. Thank you Ralph Sparks
Bronson is right on with his readings and measurements. There have been many that have gone to see him and see great results in what he does via Revolution Golf. I am one who has gone and have seen nothing but improvements with my game.
Sorry Bronson, what you are doing is finding the bow of the shaft, it does not represent the spine. Read up at tutelman.com on the engineering principles of shafts or watch my video on the youtube golffitter channel.
What type of bearings did you use, I've heard that they must be a special bearing that's hard to get. I've also heard if you put it to 9 o'clock it gets more distance, do you lose distance by putting it to 3 o'clock or just more accuracy without distance lost? Thanks
